Flamingos!

Well, Anita has gone flamingo crazy this week. She has made a variety of flamingo themed items from storage pots to chairs, all sorts has had the treatment. There is a variety of methods ranging from new fabrics to paintings, and having a new clean look to a vintage effect, there is something to suit anyone's taste.

This upcycled chair has been upholstered with flamingo material. It started out as a tip ready wooden seat and back chair with a tatty chrome frame. A good scrub soon got the chrome looking tidy again and the seat and back have been given some padding and covered. This has really improved the look and comfort of the chair. We love to rescue items and when they come out as tidy as this it is very rewarding.

Next up is a glass engraving. While a more subtle effect than the chair it has its own charms. We find that people enjoy having a personal glass and we have done a few which sport a picture one side with a name on the other which make for great gifts. So for the flamingo lovers out there we can now do these too.

You may have noticed that we love to make use of otherwise wasted objects. This is a perfect example of the things we like to do. Most people would think no more of the humble tin. Almost all of us have used them for other purposes, be it a tub for holding screws, a makeshift paintbrush cleaning tub or even plant pots. We have taken this a little further and this one has been covered with a flamingo pattern, lined inside with soft material and edged with wool. It could be used for many purposes, though we think a dressing table or desk tidy would suit it best. Anita has also made some others with a vintage look and a simple lining.

Here we have a Lloyd loom laundry basket which has been re-topped with a flamingo print centre and wool surround. The whole thing has been tidied up and has a pleasantly vintage look. This is a nicely sized basket and a sturdy thing to boot so is ready for everyday use.

There is more themed pieces at the stall, including a couple of paintings by a local artist. It seems that flamingo's are rather popular at the moment so we hope that these will find a home. They all look at home in a room and would suit many decors. So if flamingo's are your thing then pop down to the stall and take a look while these items are around.
