About us

Based in Shropshire and Staffordshire we are a group of like-minded craftsmen and craftswomen. Together we share resources and skills to create and rework items in such a way as to retain character without feeling dated. Everyone has an individual area of skill and has gained these skills through effort and practise. Some skills came through hobbies, some through work and some from a fascination with the subject. Many of our working lives has shaped our skill sets. We have worked in gardening, woodland management, arts and crafts, timber production, forestry and tree surgery and education in professional capacities. Everyone also has had side work and hobbies in everything from woodwork and art to music and cooking, we continue to bring the skills together to create items which are unique, useful or simply curious.

Commissions & Customisation

We do take on commissions if we believe we can provide what is requested. Such projects have included particularly sized or shaped Christmas decorations, custom dog beds and personalised drinks glasses. We will also rework furniture if you have something which you don't want to get rid of but would like to bring up to date or suit a new decor. We can also do alterations to make furniture more suited to a particular purpose.

From time to time we may get asked to make something which is out of our area of expertise. In these circumstances we would try to put you in contact a specialist who could provide what you are looking for.

Almost all of our items can be personalised too if you want something to be extra special. We can engrave glass and metals using one of our engraving tools. This method gives a shallow mark which has an almost holographic quality on most metals and a translucent quality on glass. This means the name or message is more subtle. Timber is done using burning techniques, namely a pyrography pen. Brighter timber work well for this but most timbers take it well. The only exceptions would be timber which is densely knotted as the many black marks in the timber can be problematic when trying to keep writing legible and properly spaced. Finally through one of our contacts we can have small plaques made to order and fitted.

Most of these methods can be accommodated on our items in one way or another. Though some items will not support certain methods, for example a painted metal item would not take engraving so we would recommend a plaque instead. In most instances your chosen item can be ready for collection from the shop the following week, though for smaller items we could post directly to you.
