Recycling

Here at the emporium of the useful and curious we love to recycle end of life items into useful objects. We use everything from broken car parts to make garden burners to bits of plumbing to make candle holders. We believe almost anything can be given a new lease of life.We also like to make a feature of our parts past rather than hide it. It is a pleasure to know that something that would have otherwise have ended up in the tip has been re-purposed. This gives the item a life of its own, and adds an intrigue into its history which could so easily be lost.

Natural

When we can, we like to champion natural resources, materials and products. With preserves we go out and pick the ingredients ourselves from areas with plenty to give and away from roads. It is a rule of ours not to pick an area clean, we always forage carefully and leave plenty for wildlife. We favour deadwood and timber from trees which were coming down anyway to minimise our environmental impact and to waste as little as possible. When we source fresh timber we find it from sustainable sources in small quantities, which in turn helps to fund the management of small woodlands.
